Each year the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center opens its doors to the public for its annual Open House, which usually takes place the weekend before Trout Season opens.
The Open House allows the Division of Fish and Wildlife to show off the trout they raise at the hatchery and to create more community awareness around the value and conservation of our natural resources.
Activities include casting opportunities for kids, a fishing flea market, various conservation groups, fly tying demonstrations and many different wildlife artists, carvers and taxidermists.
Temps approached 50 degrees, so we decided to make it a family outing, including a visit to a favorite lunch spot Hot Dog Johnnys, located in beautiful Buttzville, NJ.
Here are some pics from the day, including a man that was selling refinished bamboo rods for very reasonable prices. Enjoy!
