It was a long, cold winter in Connecticut, and spring is coming like molasses. Today it reached into the low 60’s, so I headed to the local bass pond with a 4wt and some poppers.
Things started out slow, as the popper was repeatedly hit by juvenile bream, too small to take the popper but big enough to pull on the rubber legs. Then I found a spot where I was able to pick up quite a few that looked like this.
I could see that something was chasing them around the cove. I cast out an extra 20 ft. and came up with this guy.
Hope you’re able to get out and finally enjoy some spring fishing. Enjoy!
