This time of year, many anglers find other things to do as stream temps become too high to be productive and safe for catch-and-release fishing.
If you’re looking for something fishing-related to do in the coming weeks, two of the area fly fishing museums are holding their annual fly markets.
The Catskill Museum of Fly Fishing in Livingston Manor New York is hosting its 30th Annual Summerfest, Aug 3-4. To find our more, click here.
The following weekend, the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester, Vermont is hosting the 6th annual Fly Fishing Festival on Saturday, August 10, 10am – 4pm. Events include:
- Free Equipment Appraisals
- Casting Competition
- Educational Presentations in the Gardner L. Grant Library
- Concession Area
- Casting with Vintage Rods
- Kids and Family Activities
- Fly Tying demos
For more information, click here.
I am going to try and make both of these, so if you’re interested in meeting up, shoot me an email. Enjoy!

I’m thinking about heading to Summerfest at Livingston Manor, an event I usually attend every year. Will let you know for certain by Friday, in case you’re planning to attend, and maybe we can shake fly-casting hands!

Waiting on a call that will determine if I get to visit Summerfest on Sat. or on Sunday. Chances are best for tomorrow. Unless you hear otherwise, late tonight, it’ll be a late start for me in the morning. Wife and I will plan to be at the main tent on the main field at 12:30 or so. I’ll be the gray-haired chap with an old white fishing cap on my head. Look forward to meeting you! En route home would like to fish West Branch D. for a couple of hours or so.
